M. Dean Buffington
Wealth Management Advisor

Dean has more than 45 years of trust and investment management experience. Prior to co-founding Buffington Mohr McNeal he was an Executive Vice President and Manager of the trust and private banking group of First Security Bank of Idaho, N.A. a regional banking organization (now Wells Fargo Bank).  After 16 years as a principal in the firm Mr. Buffington sold his interest to the firm in 2014. He continues to play an integral role as a consultant to the firm and our clients.

In addition to his professional experience, Dean is a past member of the Board of Trustees for St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Foundation and a past member of The College of Idaho Board of Trustees. Dean is a past president of the Idaho Banker's Association, past president of the Boise Estate Planning Council, and past chairman of the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho. He has also served on the national Board of Trustees and as chairman of the Finance Committee of the Pension Fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Shirley Cleveland
Client Services

Shirley is responsible for all functions related to client account opening, client service, and custodial relationship managment. She also assists with SEC compliance. She has nearly 25 years of experience in banking, brokerage and wealth managment. Shirley has been a registered investment advisor representative with Buffington Mohr McNeal for almost 15 years.

Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal, Shirley worked as a financial consultant for Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. in Boise, Idaho and prior to that she was a financial services representative for First Security Bank (Now Wells Fargo Bank)

Girl Scout troop leader and service unit volunteer.  Girl scout leader over seven years with troop focus on community service (Rake up Boise, tree planting, food bank, quilting for donation / Project Linus).  Service unit leadership for planning and executing activities for troops in SE Boise (camp, more service).  Volunteer time centered around kid’s activities, mostly band.

Married 27 years, transitioning to empty nest and learning how  to cook just for two. Love to read and really appreciate the new audio book craze (great for multitasking).  Best down time is spending time with family and friends or enjoying an evening at Shakespeare or other live musical performances.   Love to travel and explore new places.

Joseph Eiguren
Wealth Management Advisor

Joe has over a decade of business and finance related experience. His entry into the world of financial advisory services began as a college intern at one of the world’s largest securities firms. As a Commercial Lender with Idaho Independent Bank, he gained a deep understanding of banking by working in all departments within the bank. He worked directly with the Bank’s CEO and COO in developing and managing special assets department within the bank. Leaving banking to begin an entrepreneurial career, Joe co-founded and owns Intelligent Office of Boise, a professional business center franchise operating throughout the United States and Canada. The business continues to operate in downtown Boise to this day. Prior to joining BMM, Joe was recruited to serve as the General Manager of Tolsma USA, the American subsidiary of an international agricultural equipment company based in the Netherlands. The company is a world leader in vegetable storage and handling technology, operating in over 60 counties on six continents. Joe’s extensive experience in banking, financial services, international and domestic business as well as agriculture give him a unique approach to financial services.

Joe is active in the community, serving as a board member of both the Cenarrusa Foundation for Basque Culture and the Idaho Classic Boat Association. He and his wife Katie are also active in the University of Idaho Vandal Boosters Association and they served as Co-Chairs of the Idaho-Oregon Fruit & Vegetable Association Convention in 2019.

Joe, along with his wife Katie and their two daughters, Sophia and Jaqueline, enjoy playing basketball, soccer, riding bikes, and skiing. They love to travel and spend time in the Idaho Mountains.



Molly Guenther, CFA® CFP®
Wealth Management Advisor

Molly manages portfolios for individuals and their families, conducts investment research and provides financial planning and strategy.  Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal in June 2017, she served as a Senior Portfolio Manager for Montag Wealth Management in Atlanta, GA for eleven years.  Prior to Montag, Molly worked for SunTrust Bank as the Regional Managing Director of Personal Asset Management – Georgia.  In that role she supervised portfolio managers throughout the state, managed several key client relationships and delivered regular economic update presentations to company management and external forums.  She has 30 years of trust and investment management experience.

Molly and her husband, Stu, lived in Atlanta, GA for over 30 years before relocating to Boise in June 2017.  They have two grown children.  Molly is a member of the Boise Downtown Rotary Club, Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation, CFA Society of Idaho and Boise Estate Planning Council.  She is a former President and Trustee of the Atlanta Society of Finance and Investment Professionals and a former board member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council.  Molly served as an instructor for the CFA Exam preparatory course in Atlanta for six  years.

Steve has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal, Steve was a financial consultant at Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. where he helped his clients achieve their goals using the appropriate solutions and strategies available through Schwab’s broad product offering.

Steve is a native of East Lansing, Michigan where he met his wife of 22 years while in high school.    He and his wife have two teenage sons.  Steve has been a member of the Financial Planning Association since 2012.  When not helping clients and the community with financial planning matters he can usually be found on the river, a fly rod or paddle in hand. 

Tyler Lang
Wealth Management Advisor

Ty is responsible for portfolio management, executing security trades, equity research and works directly with asset custodians, brokers, and clients to ensure proper portfolio asset allocation to meet investment policy objectives.  He has over 14 years of experience in equity research and trading with the firm.  Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal, Ty worked as an analyst for Federated Insurance based in Seattle, WA covering the Pacific Northwest. Prior to his analyst work at Federated Insurance in Seattle, he worked as a commercial loan analyst at U.S. Bank in Boise.

Rod P. MacKinnon
Wealth Management Advisor

Rod has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He first joined U.S. Bancorp in 1983 as a commercial loan officer in their National Account Division. In 1986, he went on to Gallagher Capital Corp., a Portland, Oregon investment banking company (now Pacific Crest Securities). There his duties included securities research and sales to institutional clients. In 1990 he joined Mountain Pacific Investment Advisers, Inc., a Boise, Idaho registered investment adviser. In his 25 years with Mountain Pacific, he served as a portfolio manager for the firm's high net worth clients. He also co-managed a common stock portfolio for the Idaho State Retirement System (PERSI) and was a member of the firm's stock selection and investment policy committee. He joined Buffington Mohr McNeal in January 2016 as a portfolio manager and member of the investment committee.

Ryan Malone

Ryan has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.  Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal, Ryan spent his career with U.S. Bancorp.  In 2007, Ryan became a Portfolio Manager.  In this position, he assisted clients with investment management by identifying goals and risk tolerance and establishing a disciplined investment process. 

In his most recent role as Division Investment Director and Senior Vice President for U.S. Bancorp’s Wealth Management Department, Ryan managed a team of five portfolio managers overseeing the Idaho/Washington division with over $2 billion in assets under management.

Bruce is skilled at identifying sound and profitable investment opportunities. He chairs our firm's investment policy committee and maintains oversight of the portfolio management function for equity and fixed income securities. Bruce is also our Chief Compliance Officer.

Bruce has over 30 years of investment management experience. Prior to co-founding Buffington Mohr McNeal, Bruce was a Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager, and a member of the Board of Directors for First Security Investment Management, Inc., a regional registered investment advisory firm.

Rick has more than a decade of experience in the accounting and finance industry. Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal, Rick was the Controller for Boise Hunter Homes where he analyzed, budgeted and accounted for investments in real estate and equities, as well as handled tax planning and review for trusts and multiple privately held companies.

Andrea is responsible for executing fixed income security trades, security research and selection. She works directly with asset custodians and brokers to ensure proper portfolio asset allocation to meet investment policy objectives. Andrea also manages daily operation of portfolio accounting, reporting and billing. Andrea has over 15 years of financial experience in private client services. Prior to joining Buffington Mohr McNeal Andrea worked in the Private Bank of First Security Corporation (now Wells Fargo Bank)

Amanda will most likely be the first person you see when you come to our office and takes care of the general operations of the office.  She supports the other team members with client services and custodian relationship management.

Prior to working with Buffington Mohr McNeal, Amanda worked with health insurance companies within the Treasure Valley for 13 years.
